Blogpost 9

2. I believe there is so much variability in the domestic forms of Brassica Oleracea because they are all from a historical group of Crucifera , a four petalled flower. Some are curly-leafed, smooth-leafed, and some are wild type, but they are all the same genus or species. Artificial selection requires a farmer to to determine which individuals possess the key characteristics to pass on to the next generation.  The cultivars of B. oleracea are grouped by developmental form into seven major cultivar groups.
